This is a bug in the VW export routine. The Savvy Section incorporates symbols, and apparently during export, plug-in objects are generated before the symbols are converted, so if you open the file in an installation where the plug-in is locked, it can not regenerate and incorporate the symbols. I can confirm that this bug has been fixed for the 2012 release. I’m pondering a solution, but it’s low priority at the moment.
There are two work-arounds.
1. If you have the version of Vectorworks to which you are exporting, install and register the Source Four Savvy Section plug-in for that version. As long as your Vectorworks seat (the last six characters of your SN) remain the same, your Savvy registration code should work. Open up the converted file in your version, and the plug-ins should regenerate. Save the file, and someone without the object installed should now see the Savvy Section correctly.
2. Select all the Source Four Savvy Section objects and convert to group. (The Select Similar Tool makes this a snap). Your drawing will export properly. If you were adjusting your section symbols by hand, you would be converting to group anyway.
Of course back-saving can introduce any number of compatibility issues, so I always recommend the practice of submitting a PDF as the drawing of record.
